FINAL EXTENDED PROJECT
Primary Research
Public Survey
To start off my Primary Research, I made a free survey using Google Forms, I went for this platform instead of survey monkey because I find it easier to navigate the responses.

This was the response to my survey, I promoted it by putting it on my Instagram story, it got around 250 views with 48 responses which is extraordinary for my research because I needed a large audience to vote so I know what the majority of the people that follow's me fashion sense and style is. This impacts my project because it gives me a wide range of opinion to implement into my products.

For the first question, I asked 'How do you feel about fashion?', I asked this because I needed to know how many people that follow me actually care about fashion at all. And the results did not disappoint, as they show that 47.9% of people voted that they loved it, which is exactly what I had wanted. Another 25% said they enjoy it, 18.8% saying they are somewhat interested by fashion and 8.4% of people dislike it/hate it. This impacts my project because it shows how many people that follow my Instagram are interested in what my FEP will include, and how popular my decision to take fashion as my topic will prove to be.

For the second question, I asked 'What is your style?', I asked this to find out what styles are popular so I can find my Target Audience for the content I will be creating. The results came back just how I'd imagined, with 12.5% of people saying casual style. 4.2% of people said streetwear and another 4.2% said streetwear and casual, which is fair. The rest of the answers were quite unique such as 'vintage' as you can see in the bottom left, another one being 'y2k' which is like fashion from the early 2000's. These answers impact my project because it creates a target audience for me to be able to go and create content (such as articles, social media videos) to cater to these people.

For the third question, I asked 'Favourite style right now?', this is an important question because I can see who I need to cater my content for. The results of this question said 43.8% of people's favourite style is Street-wear. Which shocks me a little bit as more people said that their style was 'casual'. Casual got 35.4% of the vote which I found quite different, as casual is definitely the most popular style on that list, but the answers are good because I can create content for different styles instead of having to stick to one - I have a vast majority of styles to pick from. This impacts my project because I can implement different types of fashion into content for my products, which brings in more people to see our content.

For the fourth question on my survey, I asked, 'Would a Music and Fashion Magazine interest you?', This question is the deal-breaker as it shows if people would actually be interested in our idea and if it would be worth the effort we will be putting into it. Thankfully, the results came back in our favour with 68.8% of people saying that they would be interested in a Magazine about music and fashion. 31.8% of people said they wouldn't be interested in a magazine, which is completely understandable as written journalism is getting less and less popular each and every day. This impacts my project as the magazine side of it might not be as popular - but people are still interested in it which makes it worth doing. For example, we've already talked about how we want to intertwine music and fashion, by using unsigned and small artist's who's genre is similar to the fashion to help them grow.

For the fifth and last question of the survey, I asked, 'Would a Music and Fashion focused social media brand interest you?'. This question meant a lot to us as this was the most important question. Social media is by far the most reliable and popular source for branding, which is why it would be beneficial for us to create a social media brand that pushes content such as social media videos, articles and TV packages out. 89.6% of people who answered would seem to agree with us too, which is brilliant. This impacts our project because we know that it is a popular idea and that people will be invested in our products and ventures.
Budgeting, Equipment and Resources

Firstly, Transport (Transport £15+). Transport is an integral part of my project because this is how I will get to the places I need to film videos, get photographs, or go for interviews. This impacts my project because without these our project simply will not work. We need interviews to give our videos character and opinion, we need photographs to make social media videos and we need to film to make products.

Secondly, Merchandise test (£15-30). One of our goals for this project is to make a full-scale brand out of it, for this we need merchandise. This will help grow our brand but also could open opportunities to turn this into a clothing brand if it takes off. This impacts my project because it opens doors for us as a brand and also gives us exposure to grow.

Cameras and Microphones(£0). Cameras and microphones are provided for us kindly by Barnsley College, this helps us a lot because it makes our products way better quality than if we recorded on our phones. This impacts our product because the better the quality of our products are the more exposure and interactions we are likely to get.

Marketing (£10+). Marketing is one the of the most important things about having a brand. Especially online, in a time where it is easier than ever to advertise something, we want to make something quite unique in real life. This will cost us around £10 to get some stickers printed that have our QR code on them. We also want to push our content to get the most out of it, this includes promoting it online. This can cost upwards of £5 depending on how much we are willing to spend or wanting to get from it.

Adobe Software (£0). This is free as it is provided for us through Barnsley College. This helps us because we need all of the Adobe products such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesgin to create all of the products we will be making. This impacts our product because it makes us able to edit everything to an industry grade level, which obviously helps exposure for the brand.

Food and Drink on Location (£60+). This is so expensive because we are likely to be out for 12 out of the 60 days that we are on production, which broke down spending £5 a day for 12 days is £60, but it may well be more than this depending what we eat. This impacts our product because we need to make sure we have enough money when we go out to eat.

All together, this equals around £100+. This is quite expensive as a college student, so I hope everything comes out just as I hope it will. This will impact my project because if I do not have any money i cannot go out and film or get interviews, therefore, cannot make content.

This is my expected Demographics and Psychographics of the people that will interact with our brand. This doesn't go into very much detail as it is just a rough spider diagram of what I would expect our audience to be interested in and what they are like.
Demographics and Psychographics are what I will base my target audience from. This helps me determine who is going to be most interested in my product and who I should cater for. This impacts my project because I know who I want to aim my products at to get the most clicks.

Locations

One of the locations I will use for this project will be where the photo will be taken for my magazine front page. This is called the Ardsley Tunnel in Lundwood, Barnsley on the Trans-Penine trail. I would like to use this location because it is scenic and I think for a fashion magazine the results will come out amazing. I know about this location because I grew up playing out around the area the tunnel is. One thing i really like about this location is the graffiti, it gives off a young, modern, hip vibe which is perfect for our front page. Another thing I like about this location is the overgrown greenery, which gives off a naturistic and gloomy atmosphere.. Yet another thing I like about this location is the tunnel itself, it looks very cool with the shots I give and just adds an extra element that I can't quite describe. Something I'm not too keen on with this location is that it is outdoors. Barnsley in spring is known for miserable, drowsy weather, so planning a date where the forecast was clear was part of our plan. Another thing I dislike about this location is the terrain. The wet weather made the hill to get up to the tunnel somewhat of a landslide and hard to get up to, especially while carrying camera equipment. And lastly, another thing I dislike about it is that it is in the middle of nowhere, we had to walk 25 minutes from the bus-stop carrying camera equipment up hills and walking through mud to get to it, but in the end, it was all worth it as the pictures came out exactly how I'd expected.

Skills and Abilities
There are multiple skills and abilities I will need for this project, for example Curiosity. You have to be curious because you need to be driven to find news and and uncover big things to report to the world. In my case, I need to be curious about fashion and finding new trends and styles that I like, which then I can put on social media and ask for recommendations. This impacts my project because I need to stay motivated throughout to get the best results.

Another skill or ability that is needed is Passion. Passion is important because if you are not interested in the topic you are studying, it gets boring quickly. To prevent this from happening, I am doing something I am deeply interested in, fashion. The fashion world is always moving and changing to adapt to new trends, so it never gets stale or boring. This impacts my project because my interest makes it easy for me to make content and articles for my magazine because I enjoy writing about it and showing my outfits.

Yet another skill or ability that is needed is good communication and listening skills. This is important because you can't zone out when you're in the middle of an important interview for a project or you will miss something. This impacts my project because if I was to zone out during an interview, I would have to ask them to re-do the interview which makes me look bad and makes it look as if I have wasted their time.

Again, another skill or ability that I need is IT Skills. This is because I need to know how to use Adobe Photoshop for my front page and to create photo content, and Adobe InDesign to create my magazine. Luckily, I am quite experienced, so I tend to know what I am doing and how I want things done. This impacts my project because without these skills, my products would look unprofessional and they would look as if I don't care about the content I put out, when in fact I care a lot.

Lastly, a skill or ability I need for this project is the ability to take criticism on content I make. This is because if I made a product that looked unprofessional and no one told me, I wouldn't change it to make it better, however, with criticism, I can improve with every piece of content I put out, as I can tell from analytics of posts that do better than others, this shows what the viewer wants to see. This impacts my project because if no one criticised me, I wouldn't change the way I edit things, and then the whole project looks unprofessional.

Peer Feedback.
Designs are very modern and trendy with very detailed articles clearly showing that your knowledge in this space is vast and can tell you care about what you are writing about sincerely. I also am big fan of the adverts you have used as they are a nice break between your articles. The front page is also taken in very professionally and selected in a very on topic location for the style of the magazine.
One thing I would change is more paragraph breaks to not make the articles not too intense on your reader.

My Response:

I agree with my feedback, especially the positive ones. I am really interested in what I’m doing so this does make it a lot easier for me to write about. I got the adverts from a fellow peer who is also doing a fashion magazine, this fits perfectly as she’s doing the same topic but the ‘girlier’ version. I also agree with the constructive criticism because I do agree that I need to add more paragraphing. This causes the reader to lose focus easy and become bored as younger adults have short attention spans.

This feedback impacts my project because it shows where I may have gone wrong somewhere and that it needs correcting.
Types of Planning
For my planning, I will need to research industry professionals to see how they make videos that get a lot of views. Another reason I will need to research industry professionals is that they know what is happening at all times and are first to make content about new trends, which means they get a lot of views and likes. This impacts my project because I will need to find out who their sources of content are and keep on top of trends to get the most out of our videos.

Another type of planning I will need to do is the location planning/Location Recce. The photos I want are in a sunny, naturistic place, but in England, it's hard to ask for sunlight. That is why I need to plan for me and my model to go the location we had set when it wasn't rainy or cloudy, which proves to be a bit of a challenge. This impacts my project because without getting the photos I want/need I will not be able to make further progress of my magazine.

Another type of planning I need to do for this project is the release forms, these are vital because without them, I can not use any photograph I take of my model. This is because I do not have his consent to post the pictures publicly.

Shot Types
It is important for me to know which kind of shots I want to get the most out of this photo shoot. I want to take photos of the upper half of the body with the model looking straight at me with a dead look on his face.
(inspiration)

I also want full body shots again looking straight into the camera with a dead face.

Inspiration

These impact my project because this is how I planned for my front page to look which is extremely important I like it or I fear I will lose motivation if I don't get the shots I want perfectly.
